Do not treat the full route as a casual add-on. Choose the shorter section when your group wants viewpoints and a city walk without committing to a long day on foot.
The shorter Daping–Eling option
The source material outlines a route from Daping Station Exit 5 through the Red Wall and toward Fotuguan and Eling. It estimates roughly 2–4 km and 1.5–2.5 hours. The route is described as mostly downhill when walked from Daping toward Eling.
The full trail is a different commitment
The full route begins near Xiaolongkan Station and continues across several parks and connecting paths. The route guide gives a broad estimate of 8.8–12 km and 3–4 hours, and explicitly notes that published route lengths vary. Terrain, weather, construction and individual pace can make the actual time longer.
Check Sky Bridge access before planning around it
The source guide says the Eling Sky Bridge requires a real-name reservation and ID check, and lists restricted hours and a Monday maintenance closure. Those details can change. Confirm current reservation availability, operating status and entry requirements with the relevant official channel before setting out.
Safety and comfort
Some sections have open-mesh decks or exposed edges. The guide advises against the Sky Bridge for visitors who are uncomfortable with heights and recommends secure footwear; moss can be slippery after rain. Carry water and check construction and route notices. If anyone in the group has mobility or balance concerns, verify the exact segment first.
Which should you choose?
- Choose the shorter walk if you have limited time, want a measured city walk, or need more flexibility for rest stops.
- Consider the full trail only if your group is comfortable with a longer walk and has checked current access and weather.
